Tennessee Emerging Director Award

This award honors directors based on the following criteria:
1. Possesses up to five years of experience in directing bands.
2. Holds a valid teaching certificate recognized by the State Department of Education or an equivalent qualification.
3. Currently serves as a conductor of a consistently successful band program, displaying evident potential for growth.
4. Exhibits promising aptitude in the profession by advancing band progress. This may involve assuming roles or responsibilities within a regional association, demonstrating a commitment to the comprehensive band program, fostering program expansion, and a drive for professional development.
5. Maintains an esteemed reputation for personal integrity, characterized by ethical and moral conduct.
6. Maintains active membership in the state music education association.

Tennessee Director of Note

This award honors directors based on the following criteria:
1. Possesses 6 to 15 years of experience in directing bands.
2. Holds a valid teaching certificate recognized by the State Department of Education or an equivalent credential.
3. Demonstrates a track record of success as a band director at one or multiple schools, consistently achieving excellence.
4. Exhibits outstanding professional excellence by advancing the development of bands. This may include holding leadership roles in regional, state, or national associations, a dedication to the holistic band program, fostering program growth, and a commitment to personal and professional development.
5. Maintains an impeccable reputation for ethical and moral integrity.
6. Is an active member of the state music education association.

Outstanding Contributor Award

The Outstanding Contributor Award honors individuals, institutions, organizations, and businesses for exceptional contributions to the support and/or development of bands. Recipients encompass a diverse range of roles such as composers, administrators, business figures, and others who significantly impact our profession. Evidence of contribution may include but is not limited to the following:

1. Impact on Tennessee Bands: Demonstrates significant and tangible contributions to the support and development of bands within Tennessee, thereby enhancing the quality of music education and performance opportunities for students.
2. Innovation and Advancement: Displays innovative approaches and initiatives that advance the field of band education and performance within the Tennessee community, introducing new methodologies, technologies, or programs that benefit bands and bandmasters.
3. Collaboration and Partnership: Has established a proven record of collaboration and partnership with other stakeholders in Tennessee's music education community, fostering the growth and success of bands.
4. Mentorship and Education: Demonstrates a commitment to mentorship and education by providing guidance and support to aspiring bandmasters, students, and colleagues in Tennessee through workshops, clinics, or other educational initiatives.
5. Advocacy for Music Education: Acts as an advocate for music education in Tennessee, actively promoting the importance of band programs and lobbying for resources and support to ensure their continued success and accessibility to all students.
6. Philanthropy and Service: Exhibits a track record of giving back to the community through philanthropic efforts or service activities that directly benefit bands, bandmasters, or music education in general.
7. Long-Term Dedication: Demonstrates sustained and long-term dedication to the improvement and growth of band programs in Tennessee, showing consistency and perseverance in their efforts over time.
